Hi All
I'm doing Half Batches as I'm still experimenting.
I entered the beer details to the Mr.Malty Calculator and it state that i don't need a starter at all for the Half batch.
But I still want to have the yeast split for next Batch.
I followed this article:
https://www.homebrewtalk.com/entries/yeast-harvesting-novel-approach.html
and according to that I need 0.5 Liter more than my needed starter but according to the calculator i don't need a starter.
So what can I do? Can I do a starter for a 5Gal batch (require 1 litter starter) than add the extra 0.5 for the split and use the full 1 litter for a Half batch? will it be OK?
Also wanted to know how long will the split Yeast can be stored in a freezer and can still be used for next Batch?
And do I need to Cold Crush the Yeast or not I read so many different views about this issue.
Thanks
