I am located in east Texas and we are having an unusually mild and wet summer, relatively speaking. It's still reaching the upper 90's but we are still getting rain which is not normal.
My cascades produced a ton of hops last year (1st year) but this year after an initial short flowering just as they reached around 15' about 2 1/2 months ago they have stopped flowering. I did as was suggested and let all bines grow last year and this year trained only 3 to grow while trimming all new buds at ground level. Vegetive growth seems to be progressing normally. I am considering letting new bines grow so that perhaps I can harvest enough cones to do an IPA this fall. Would that be beneficial to the plant or should I keep it trimmed and hope I am getting concentrated root growth this year?
