Trying to save some money on a ferm chamber project.

This is my second build. My first was about $450 USD.

Due to me having moved to Toronto, USDCAD exchange rate makes things more expensive as do import costs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Continuing another thread from another thread that diverged from talking about wort chiller placement in BK

Here's my price-list.

Any suggestions welcome. Total $415

14 AWG for wiring 24.00
(Too much wire. Go to a big box store and get 1' of the bulk roll. Save at least $20)
<Agreed. Thanks for that>

AC cord 24.00
($11: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003O...TRL&ref=plSrch)
<Thx. Found one here for 11USD equivalent

heater 50.00
(Paint can/light bulb is much cheaper, but based on a previous post, apparently a reptile heater is healer yet)
<yup i'm using https://www.morebeer.com/products/fermwrap-heater.html?site_id=5 and incorporating exchange rate and shipping>

coping saw 12.00 (no need that I can see)
<for hobby box STC-1000 hole and outlet holes>

file 12.00 (no need that I can see)
<for holes>

round file 12.00
<for fuse holder hole>

nm clamps 7.00 (not sure what this is)
<clamps that hold the ac cord snug coming into hobby box>

outlet tester 7.00 (no need)
<saw the earlier suggestion for a lamp and I realized "duh" that's right >

fuse 7.00 (no need)
fuseholder 15.00 (no need)
<I think you're right but I'm ultra paranoid>

2 x gfci 11.40 (1x not-GFCI for ~$1)
<see ultra paranoid>

stud finder 20.00 (no need)
<want to mount hobby box to wall>

thermal insulating tape for probe 25.00 (use scrap cardboard/masking tape)
<oh yeah that will hold with the moisture?>

I used a dremel to cut holes. Seems like you have way too many tools.
<don't have dremel>

Ask friends, somebody's gotta have one (-saw, file, file, drill bit ... -$37)
<my friend are either not handy or they're new friends I've imposed on too much already but yes this is a good point>

Don't use an outlet tester. Use a lamp (-$7)
(Fuse/fuse holder. No need, your breaker will take care of it)
<In theory. Place I'm renting is cludgy so I'm paranoid. I'm getting a great deal so don't wanna ruffle feathers by demanding up to code>

(Gorilla glue. Not sure where this is used. I attached mine with Command)
<can't remember either but needed it last time. I have it anyway>

(I won't touch the freezer. Sounds like they're not easy to find. Of course, scour craigslist, but it sounds like you might be stuck. )
<I got super lucky. Originally I found one $60 but all the "men with vans" were total flakes. Moving company wanted $230 and that was after shopping around. Finally I found someone willing to sell and deliver for $150>

Holy crap I want to upvote your answer a million times.

I had no idea they had this

The only reason NOT to get that inkbird is if you can build your own for cheaper with an ITC/STC unit for $16 and less than $22 of parts!
For instance I had enough junk laying around all I had to buy was the ITC-1000 and though I HAD a spare edison duplex, I bought a black one for <$2 and salvaged the rest of the parts from a junk piece of electronics.
