This weekend I am planning on brewing up a 5 gallon batch of Graff (malty, hopped cider) using US-05 as my yeast. When this is finished fermenting I plan on following it with a 6 gallon batch of a holiday spiced stout and was planning on using US-05 for it too.

It is okay to just pitch the stout on top of the Graff yeast cake (which should make for a hell of a starter), should I wash the yeast first and then re-use, or should I just dump the yeast cake and make a fresh starter of US-05?

This would be my first time re-using any yeast, so bear with my newbie questions.

If it were me, I would at least wash it before using. It would be better though to take a portion of the yeast and build a new starter from that.
