Rice Hulls Water Volume

Planning on brewing a beer this weekend that is about 50% Wheat.
The avoid a "stuck Sparge" I was planning on using 1/2lb of Rice Halls.

Do I figure the 1/2lb of rice halls into my mash and sparge water calculations?

I never do. I just throw in 2 big hand-fulls(or 3 for bigger beers). The hulls don't absorb enough water to worry about.

Nope. They come out dry.

I would rinse them before you add to the mash as well ... :beard:

I usually do. They won't absorb much water, but the sponginess of 1/2 pound of rice hulls can make your mash feel pretty thick.
