Reusing stout yeast cake for ale

I have a stout finishing up and was getting ready to make a holiday ale ( festivus miracle ale / Northern brewer) I was curious if I could put wort on top of the yeast cake instead of using a new yeast packet or will the stout flavor ruin the ale? . Both recipes called for safale S-04 yeast. I did strain wort for the stout before going into fermenter so most of the hops debris never made it to the bucket.
