Removing divider between freezer and refrigerator compartment

Would there be any safety concerns in removing this divider? I just bought the SS Brewtech 1/2 barrel fermenter and for it to fit in my current fridge I would have to remove this divider. Anyone ever do this or know if there is some potential problems with "gutting" the fridge. I bought this fridge a few years ago for $50 so if it were to get destroyed I wouldnt be too worried.

Though of course it all depends on the fridge.

If you go for it, it would be very awesome if you could take some pictures. I'd like to see more examples as I'm contemplating doing the same thing.

I actually did this to my old kegerator before it kicked the bucket. Just look on the back of the fridge. If you see the coils back there, you're good to go.
