Noiw that is a good idea - thank youYou could pick up a 1/4" MPT to 1/4" MFL adapter at your local hardware store.
Then you can use the typical 1/4" FFL to 8mm (5/16") OD tube adapter from either Duotight, John Guest, or DMfit...
Cheers!
Have tried one of those fittings but could not get it to seal as it is a parallel female thread - will try and find a tapered male tread - maybe to a barb and foget about the Duotight sidefor some reason they call them "bulkhead" adapters.
Duotight Push-In Bulkhead - 8 mm (5/16 in.) x 1/4 in. BSP |
probably cheaper than having to buy brass. not sure.
you can also just pick up some off amazon that are 3/8 push to 1/4npt. doesnt have to be "duotight" necessarily for your gas lines....
Agree, PTFE tape to the rescuei've got like 90% success rate on NPT to BSP mating. every once in a while it doesnt work, but mostly they go together without trouble. thread sealant helps alot.

Thank you ! Learnt something new today - appreciate thatNO BUENO!!! tape is bad for plastic connections. it was designed to be a "lubricant" for metal threads, not a sealant. (although most folks use it that way) but when you put it on plastic you're more likely to mis-thread and then you're screwed. especially if you use more than one wrap.
you want this stuff. thread SEALANT. food/potable water safe. its a paste. on plastic that's all you need. no tape. and plastic to metal, same thing. just sealant. no tape.

Not to mention the risk that the integrity of the connection is compromised and could blow-off.NO BUENO!!! tape is bad for plastic connections. it was designed to be a "lubricant" for metal threads, not a sealant.
