Does anyone know where you can find a gas check valve like this except in 1/4" MIP to 1/4" flare? I'm switching my Taprite dual regulator over to Duotight fittings and I'd like to not have to replace the shut off valves. So far my search has just turned up shutoff valves with built-in check valves. The one pictured is 1/4" MIP to 5/16 barb.

I replaced mine yesterday and kept the one way valve in your first photo. Kept almost 2 inches of old line and then added a brass tapered barb that went into a female/male coupler and then added the plastic Duotight fitting. I used three wraps of Teflon tape because the threads go in but wanted insurance and the set up does not leak! Parts are from Regional Hose and Hydraulics: item 125HBL 6 - 2 ; 3/8 hose barb x 1/8 MNPT @$1.99 and item 0203-2-4; 1/8 FNPTF x #4 MJIC STR @ $3.50
I live in Canada and do not have access to stores that carry other options. I thought the hose barb to hose barb mating with existing tubing and hose clamps was a good fix given my limited access to parts. Let's see what others say!!

fwiw, rather than giving up functionality, I went this way:

This is the gas system that supplies two of my chambers, and that's a pair of ss 1/4" barb - 1/4" mfl fittings with the Duotight 1/4" ffl - 8mm tubing PTCs. Existing check valves and shutoffs are preserved, but it still makes it really easy to insert one of my low pressure (11" WC/~ 0.4psi) regulators when I need to cold-crash carboys.

Cheers!

These are the check valves I use: https://foxxequipment.com/product/adapter-14-mpt-x-14-mfl-w-ball-check-pr-8261

They are 1/4" MPT x 1/4" MFL. A member in our club works for airgas and has a foxx account. He was able to get them for me for right around $2 a piece, so I bought 30. haha.

Most homebrew shops also order from foxx, so you should be able to find it through an online homebrew shop retailer, but with a markup.

I saw those on a homebrew webstore and tried to order them but had issues with the website shopping cart. In the end I ordered these:

Should the brass to brass connection to the regulator get plumbers tape?

(I know the connection do duotight doesn't need it since its plastic to brass)

Yup, you are correct. For any NPT metal-metal joint, you should be using tape (or dope for bigger plumbing fixtures, don't use dope on brewing fittings, it isn't worth the hassle).
