Scenario: I wanted to "dry hop" with chopped cilantro in a 2 gallon experimental batch. Pressed for time, I put chopped cilantro (prewashed) into a paint strainer bag, submerged it for about 10 minutes in b-brite solution, then placed it in the fermenter.

Question: Destined for contamination? I knew this was reckless, but I wanted to get this done today because I'm starting a new job. Fishing for both brutal honesty, as well as false hope.

Fortune has smiled upon me. Not to encourage others to replicate my negligent practices, but I happily report that this beer at bottling time has escaped contamination. I dare say this jalapeno cilantro amber ale is fairly delicious even pre-carbonation.

isn't b-brite a cleanser...not a sanitizer. I dont know...I use SS for everything.

I normally use starsan too, b-brite was just part of my alternate, small batch set-up I keep at my girlfriend's place.

The potential conclusions: (1) submerging the cilantro in the b-brite worked; (2) the jalapeno added some anti-contaminant properties; (3) dumb luck; (4) some combination of the above.
