I needed to get some yeast the other day, and wanted to try something I hadn't used before. After some discussion with the lhbs guys, I settled on WLP041 Pacific Ale Yeast. I searched on here for some recipes and critiques on the strain, but didn't find too much.

What style should I make with this yeast. I have been thinking about doing a Munich/Centennial SMaSH. Or maybe an American Brown or IPA ??

What do you think?

I haven't used it. Despite the name White Labs suggests using it in English ales. It should be fine for any of the style you lsited as long as you are ok with a bit more fruit character than you would get from an American ale yeast.

The attenuation is pretty low, so you might want to mash a few degrees cooler that you might for a typical yeast.

Good luck.

Which hops would be good?? On hand I have Cascade, Willamette, Centennial, and Columbus. I love centennial, but only have maybe 6 oz or so left. I also like Willamette alot, but am in the same boat. I have a good bit (almost a full lb) of both the cascade and Columbus.

I guess I could always not make a smash and go with an IPA instead.
