Recapping bottles safe?

I'm considering entering one of my recent brews into a local competition. My bottles were capped with custom graphic caps which is not allowed. Is it safe to pop the cap and immediately recap? What negative impact could this have on carbonation, flavor, aroma, etc...?

Sand the logo off the top of the cap.

Removing cap will result in losing too much carbonation. After recapping it when the time comes to open the beer later it may be a tad flat.

I would get the bottles as cold as you can without freezing prior to cap swapping.

Sanding off the logo sounds like your safest bet, I like that idea.
