I picked a few pounds of raspberries yesterday... Some will become pies today, some for breakfast cereal, more importantly some will be going into a chocolate Porter I have in secondary right now... As for the rest, I boiled them down and stuck them in a sanitized 1 gallon jug to cool down over night... I'm not quite sure what do with them now... I have a few extra mason jars of Wyeast 1056 that I have washed and use for brewing ....

My question is this : could I use this wyeast 1056 culture with raspberries ? Even though it's not a wine yeast ? I'm not sure what will even happen ? What if I mix up some muntons dry extract and throw that in there with it ? That might sound really stupid but I'm open to suggestions on what to do with this...

It will ferment. I make ciders with US04 and nottingham regularly. Ive never made a rasberry wine before but i say give it a go. 1056 is neutral so should be alright

Cool thanks I'll give it a try when I get home today ... Never made a wine before so it should be interesting
