I wanted to start buying my base malts in bulk but don't want to purchase 4 different 50lb bags of different 2 row malts for different recipes. My question is, does it make a significant difference to the final beer? For example, if I use a rahr 2 row in a recipe that calls for a breiss or vice versa will it just be a difference in color or would it actually taste noticeably different? Thanks for any help!

I like Briess' base malts, but I've used Rahr (which is cheaper) for many US beer styles and they've been really good as well.

There may be some differences among maltsters in North America, but not as much as comparing the differences between British and German two-row vs US two-row.

Thanks Yooper, that answers my question. I won't worry too much on it.
