If I have 20 pounds of grain and 40 gallons of water, how much liquid can I expect to distract?
Right, I was alluding to strike volume. The "under the false bottom" volume is not a factor in this loss question.
The volume that can't be pulled out by the dip tube, is...
Cheers!
You would "extract" about 38 gallons of liquid. What that liquid contains would be a function of what kind of grain it was, whether it was malted or not, and what temperature it was held at and for how long. 20 pounds of grain is a rather insignificant amount for 40 gallons of water. A rough rule of thumb is that you can get about 25 PPG so 20 x 25 is 500 divided by 40 gallons is 1.012 SG.If I have 20 pounds of grain and 40 gallons of water, how much liquid can I expect to distract?
