Friend of mine made a vanilla porter with mexican vanilla and I'm not a big fan...he's adamant about not using vanilla bean (says he doesn't like it). We've used vanilla powder before & he preferred that. My question is...can I add the vanilla additive powder to the keg after the beer has been carbed? I usually siphon the beer on top of the keg & the powder mixes in that way. I have a feeling that if I just drop the powder in, it'll clump...& I'm wary about mixing it to much with a spoon (oxidation?) Perhaps I could pour off a pint or so, add the powder to that & gently stir, then add that mixture back to the keg?

What would you do?

Never even heard of vanilla powder. Vanilla extract may be a better way to go. Personally, I'm all-beans all the time, but it sounds like you're unlikely to convince your friend.
