Plate Filter as Randalizer

While looking at randalizers and considering options, I realized the old plate filter I bought years ago that I have barely used should theoretically work. Looks like it is still listed on MoreBeer.

My idea would be to put whole or pellet hops in between the filter pads on the inside, then simply force beer through it (for something like this I would probably use a coarse filter).

I have a little bit of a worry that whole hops would actually cause blinding off of the filter, but are there any other issues anyone can think of? Since the beer would still be uncarbonated, is there really any value since I will still have to carb the keg?
