I am planning on brewing an Altbier this weekend. First time I've attempted to brew this style. I always make starters for my brews. I will be using Wyeast 1007. I'm not really sure what size starter to make though. It will be fermented at a lower temp than ales but higher than lagers. On mrmalty, there was a category for hybrid type yeast. Is that the option one would select for a yeast strain such as this?

I use this yeast alot and usually ferment it at 61-63F and get very good results with attenuation and flavor. What I do for my pitching rate is use the site listed above (www.yeastcalc.com) and use the number of yeast cells between the ale selection and hybrid selection. This beer is not necessarily fermented at that low of a temp so you don't need to pitch at a hybrid level. Good luck!
