I've been breadboarding and testing my brew controller, and I'm not sure what is acceptable practice for the physical connection of the line-side wires to the SSR. The SSR has those plates that clamp down on the conductor, which I like better than the typical "wrap-the-wire-around-a screw" connection like on a light switch. But can I use those to clamp down on a solid (or stranded/tinned) 12 AWG wire? And can I put one on each side if I want to tap off of one connection? It would seem the plate would grip both wires well.
But almost all the pictures I see show crimp connectors on the wire. I'll do that if that is needed, but I sort of hate adding another connection.
TIA-
