Instead of buying pH calibration solution, could you use distilled water to calibrate to 7.01 pH ?

Just calibrated mine with solution, and realized distilled water should have a pH of 7.00

Lot cheaper than calibration fluid.

That is not a good standard to use since distilled water picks up CO2 from the atmosphere which causes the pH of that water to drop into the 6's. On top of that, you really have to have a multi-point calibration to get the slope and the intercept of the calibration correct. You need to get both the 7 and 4 calibration solutions.

Excellent point I didn't know (CO2)

I used to do a 7 and 4 calibration, since that's the range we work through when brewing.

I ran out of 4 and just did a 7 - just wondering

Thanks very much for the info.
