I have a pair of 545PC faucets i have been using problem-free for almost exactly 2 years now. I went to pull a pint of cider last night and noticed what looked like tiny black flecks floating on the foam.

Closer inspection lead me to the conclusion that these were chrome flakes, lots of them, maybe 15-20.

It was late so i just dumped the pint and went to bed in a bad mood.

I ordered a pair of 630SS taps this morning as replacements.

I will disassemble the tap and do a post-mortem exam this evening with pictures.

Has anyone else had perlick chrome taps flake off into their beer?

well I am still disappointed they only lasted 2 years. These flow control faucets weren't available in stainless back then.

I am wondering if the higher acidity in the cider accelerated this issue?
