I planted 4 varities of hops this spring(Cascade, Willemette, Fuggles, & Centenial). When I planted them, I put in a 14' tall trelles system, that I first saw at the garden supply where I bought the hop plants. It is a single post that stands 14' tall with several lines coming down to stakes about 3' out from the base.

Well, this appears to work great, except, it is only June and 3 of the 4 types are already growing over the top of the post. There is still 60-70 days of good weather left to go in the growing season. I knew that the bines would grow longer than the 14' trelles and thought that a few feet might hang down, but at this rate they'll hang all the way back to the ground!

Do I add highth? Let them hang? Trim them? .......

Any ideas would be great!

thanks
Dave
