I thought I'd try washing yeast for the first time. The picture shows the flask after sitting overnight. I only really see two distinct layers, not three like I see in tutorials. Should I just pitch the whole thing or do I have a problem here? It's a bit "alive", with little bubbles shooting up every once in a while, but nothing in there looks "nasty" or "scummy" or anything. I'm planning to pitch it this afternoon (in about 8 hours from when this photo was taken).

You just want the top creamy white, not the darker bottom. Yeast on top, turb on bottom.

It looks like there is krausen on the top?

There are three layers there. The very bottom has dark stuff, that's trub garbage. The second layer is a very thick layer of yeast. The third is empty liquid. Just decant the liquid and dump the bottom two layers into your beer. A little trub won't hurt anything.
