supposed that i making a beer that supposed to be 1.060 OG. i end with 1.072. can i top up with water to make 1.060?meaning that i have enough room in my fermenter for the extra wort.will it dilute the flavor?

If there is room for water in fermenter then adding water shouldn't hurt. If it's still above 1.060 then you will just have a stronger beer. The choice is yours.

You can find free dilution calculators online that tell you how much water you need to add to bring the OG to what you were shooting for. Brewers friend has one for instance. I have used beersmiths before to adjust my OG.
