I'm new to electric brewing. I have:

-a keggle

-access to a 220 outlet

-gumption

-a visiting father-in-law that knows more about electricity than I do

Right now it seems like I can order:

and this:

And pretty much be good to go. I could boil or simmer. Also I assume I could remove the element if it scorched. Am I nuts? Would this system work?

Is there a cheaper controller out there? I believe I could piece together the element parts cheaper.

Any sort of help or advice would be super great.

First thing you will need is a GFCI breaker in line for that 220 outlet. You could use a 50A spa panel for this. Is the outlet at least 30A?

That looks a little expensive for the controller. With this kit from Still Dragon and some wire and a an outlet and i think you will come out ahead.

That might be a good price on the element enclosure. Check these out from BrewHardware.com. I have them on my set up and am a big fan. If i had it to do over i would have gone with the silver solder TC version over the weldless. He also has the stainless elements. All you would need is the cord and a plug for it.
