During my last brew day, my RIMS tube kicked the bucket and kept tripping the GFCI, so I had to make the decision: rebuild the RIMS tube or get around to building out the extra keg.

I decided to go for broke and build out an eHERMS MLT.

After about $400 is fittings, tubing, and heating elements from Brew Hardware (not to mention swearing and learning how to solder stainless fittings) I got it done.

Now I just need to get my brew shed and a spa panel wired up to control this bad boy. In the meantime I can get by by putting an analog thermometer in the temperature probe port and blanking off the heating element.

Quick disconnect fittings are saved for further down the line, since I've been getting by without them for some time now anyways.

It's tight, but I managed to fit everything to control the HLT and a pump into a 6" x 6" x 4" junction box. These pictures are missing the probe wires because, for now, I just have a small hole drilled with them coming in the side above the heater cable on the right side of the box. Later on I will get a new probe with a disconnect on it.

The illuminated switches are a nice touch that I'm glad I sprung for instead of trying to cram in separate indicator lights.

Turns out that it works, really well! Now to get my act together and electrify the kettle so I don't have to sparge into buckets...
