I have and have read the craft maltsters handbook. Very little good info. Briggs Malt and Malting has much more info. I was hoping that the craft aspect would have been represented. It wasn't at all. That is, I was hoping it would have said something about how a craft producer could produce something both of the best quality and yet different, and the book really lacked there. Some basic info on malting systems but that's it. Basically an expanded wiki on malting. Look for Briggs if you want in depth info. Hopefully there is indeed a craft aspect to be explored.
Grew a bunch of 2-row last year and it has been sitting around for malting. Pulled it out last night and there's tons of rat turds in it. Should have done a better job of storing for sure. Quite a lot of work harvesting, threshing and winnowing. Oh well, I put it out for the quail this morning.
Any readers of the thread's subject book yet? I'm quite curious....
