I've been home brewing for over a year now and had previously built my own kegerator with an old redbull vending fridge. It was pretty badass.
However once I started kegging my home brews I realized I wanted to be able to serve more than two brews and realized that a keezer would be the way to go.
After a lot of thought, research and reading on this site I had my design. I bought a 8.8 cu ft chest freezer off of a friend who was moving from MA to CA for $100. Pretty good deal I think. It was white when I bought it however I think the black freezers look a lot nicer so after a trip to home depot it went from...
to...
Looks much better I think. Before I painted the freezer I framed out and joined the walnut I bought and cut at a local lumberyard.
After the collar was set I brought it outside to cut the shank holes and put the poly coats on while my friend painted the freezer.
Once the poly coats were dry then I cut the insulation and attached it to the collar with liquid nails.
Once that was dried it was time to install
The temp controller, air circulating fan, attach the collar to the freezer body and the lid to the collar.
Then came the fun stuff! Installing the 4 way co2 manifold, Perlick 525 ss faucets w/ 3" shanks & the hoses.
The drip tray I mounted using 12 Hard drive magnets and build a wooden holder for it using shelf brackets and moulding from home depot. Then painted everything black once it was put together and put the drip tray on.
Then it was time to install the kegs and power it all up!
All done! Thanks for all of the inspiration and previous examples to reference!
