I am being given 5 gallons of wort at 1.051 and 25 IBU. I want to do a mini mash to add flaked oats, increase the batch size to 6 gallons, increase the OG to about 1.065, and bump the IBUs just a bit (about 10 IBU). Is this possible and if so, how do I do it? I'm having a hard time doing the calculations so I am looking for help from the more experienced on here.

Exactly what I was looking for... Thanks!

So I am looking at the following for a 1 gallon top up batch.

4lb 2-row
1lb flaked oats
1 oz of a 12AA hops for 30 minutes

Does this make sense?

You may need additional sparging and boiling to achieve your target volume and s.g., so use a hydrometer or refractometer and adjust as needed.

I would use a 60 minute hop addition for the bitterness. That way you can extend the boil without altering the IBU.

I will be doing a full volume BIAB so I should be good. I don't need the numbers to exact, just close.
