I saw the recipe for Mint Stout in the recipes section on this site and decided to throw something together on my own. Just curious about my Crystal additions. Not sure if they will add any appreciable flavor or if they are wasted with the dark malts.
I have some flaked wheat on hand if that will help add some body to this stout as well. I will be adding 1.5-2 tsp of mint extract at kegging.
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
7 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 49.1 %
5 lbs Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain 2 35.1 %
8.0 oz Black (Patent) Malt (500.0 SRM) Grain 3 3.5 %
8.0 oz Black Barley (Stout) (500.0 SRM) Grain 4 3.5 %
8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 5 3.5 %
8.0 oz Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 6 3.5 %
4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 7 1.8 %
2.00 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 8 29.3 IBUs
