Thought on my quick and easy mid snow storm extract recipe. Normally all grain but 1 ft of snow will keep that a no go for a while so I am thinking of trying an extract recipe to keep the shakes away.

5 Gallon batch

8 oz crystal 77 steep 15 minutes

7.5lbs Light LME 20 minute boil

1 oz Challenger Pellets (6% Alpha) 15 min
1 oz Magnum Pellet (12.6% Alpha) 15 min
1 oz US Goldings (4% Alpha) 15 min

Dry English Ale Yeast (WLP007)

15 Quart Boil Volume

Too Much Magnum?

Another thought is I have some fairly (at least 3 years old) old Cascade hops I could actually bump up the magnum say 1.5 ounces and throw in 2 or 3 ounces of the cascade instead of the challenger and goldings. If cascade don't smell funky might use some up.

When the weather gets ugly, I keep the shakes away by doing a half size all grain batch on my stovetop via BIAB. If I really want 5 gallons, it's pretty easy to push out 2 batches back to back.

Too Much Magnum?

Too much Magnum? What a silly question! :)

BeerSmith says that's 24 IBUs. I'd go with 1.5 oz for an IBU of about 30, assuming you're going for a pale ale. I wouldn't swap out for the old Cascade. Give is a sniff, but I'd be surprised if it's not funky.
