Any good tricks for easily measuring volume into a stainless steel conical fermenter?

I'm not inclined to carve marks into it (and I intend to have the lid on anyway), so the only way I can think of is to: measure post-boil volume in the kettle, subtract for cooling volume loss, and subtract for losses I find in the kettle, lines, and such (which seems fairly inaccurate).

Anyone have a better method? Thanks for your insights!

Commenting mainly to subscribe to the thread, but I tend to upsize my brews (13gal IPA) to ensure I have enough to fill (2) kegs. USUALLY, after all my losses there will still be a bit of beer in the bottom of the conical but I chalk it up to waste. Worth the extra couple bucks to ensure I get (2) full kegs of clean beer.

Cheers!
