Got a recipe for a Mocktoberfest that calls for Crystal 32.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but what's the difference between that and crystal 30?

Curious because my LHBS doesn't carry the 32.

I'd probably substitute straight. Or you could add a tad more C30.

Never heard of C32. It sounds too precise to be accurate. Are you sure the 32 referred to the lovibond of the crystal and not the percentage (ack!) or the points per gallon (i.e. dark crystal)?

It's likely to be a translation from EBC colour scale.

They don't even sell Crystal 32, and they build the kits on a table in the middle of the store. Give em a call, 99% sure it's a typo.

Avangard Caramel 30L is what the recipe intends, but presents it as Avangard Crystal 32.

Basically, a german caramalt in the 30 lovibond range should work. Caramunich I or CaraAmber should work as a sub if needed.
