Hey everyone,
Just hashing out a simple pale ale recipe based on what I have on hand for the weekend. I'm wondering if the Magnum plays well with Willamette. Also, I'm shooting for a balanced Pale Ale that's not too bitter and is easy drinking. I have some Cascade and Perle too, but the pale ale I just made uses those, so I wanted to do something different with the hops.
Ale Pale Pale Ale
11.5 gallons
85% efficiency
Grain
17 lbs 2 row
1 lb crystal 60
Hops
Magnum .9 oz (16%AA) 60 min.
Willamette 1 oz (5.2%AA) 20 minutes
Willamette 1.25 oz 10 minutes
Willamette 2 oz O minutes
Yeast WLP 051 California V
SI mash @ 152
I'm using a CF chiller FWIW regarding the hop additions.
I'm using Homebrew Formulator for mac and am coming up with 1.048, SRM 7.9, and 37.1 IBU.
Suggestions?
I think it's sounding good but I've never used Willamette.
