While SWMBO likes drinking my beers, they regularly come in around 6% ABV. It would be super, she says, if I could make a low-alcohol stout. On the upside, it's an excuse to buy a stout tap and a nitro system.
Here's the recipe I ginned up for 5gal:
Grain bill
3.3lb Muntons Dark LME (1 can)
1lb Flaked oats
8oz Carapils
4oz Roasted barley (500L)
4oz De-bittered black malt (550L)
Hops
1oz Fuggles 4.5% Alpha - 60 min boil
1oz E Kent Goldings 5.9% Alpha - 15 min boil
Wee Beasties
Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale
Malt.io calculates this to 3% ABV but within the oatmeal stout style guidelines for color and IBUs. A pound of oats seems a bit much for a 5gal batch but I think it'll be too thin otherwise. What say ye?
