Am working on an alt beer recipe. I've brewed a couple alts before but all were from kits when I was doing extract.
Was looking to add a bit of rye and am toying around with using that Briess smoked malt to give just a hint of smokiness in the background of the beer. But am not sold on either of those two so talk me out of it if I'm going down a bad path.
Here's where I am at right now:
6# pilsner
1.5# rye
1# munich
6 oz black malt
4 oz briess smoked malt
1# brown sugar
2 oz hallertau 60
.50 oz tettnang 20
Wide open on yeast choices. I use a lot of US-05 but I also brew a lot of pales, IPAs, etc. Not sure 05 is right here but might not be wrong.
Appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks
