I know you are supposed to keep your beer out of light when fermenting and storing. Does the term light refer to any light sources such as house lights or is it primarily sunlight that hurts the beer?

Primarily UV light, which is part of the white light spectrum. So, yes that includes your house lights and sunlight.

With house lights,it'd be more from floresent lighting. Even those coiled up ones that fit regular light sockets. So I use Leinenkugel's 12 pack boxes for my bottles, filled or empty. The have seperators & multi-layer lids with tabs to keep them closed. Works great for me.

I use LED lights to check my fermentors. No UV from LED lights unless they are specifically manufactured to develop UV radiation. Was going to replace all the lighting in my brew room with LEDs, but they are still to expensive.
