Hey guys,

In all the years I've been brewing I've only used pellet hops until last night when I decided to use whole leaf hops in a pilsner. The part I loved the most was how crystal clear the wort was coming out due to the hops staying behind and not forming a sludge, and how they filtered any hot/cold break that occured.

So it got me thinking, given the lack of diversity in leaf hops, can you use a combination of the two in order to help filter out the pellets? This way you get the diversity of pellet hops with the clarity of using leaf hops.

What do you think?

It works - depending on how much of each you are talking about. A little pellet with a bunch of leaf works. A lot of pellet with a little leaf still makes a bunch of sludge.
