Getting ready to do my first lager and I'm a little concerned about yeast viability after lagering for weeks on end. I've read the threads here that pretty much tell me not to worry and that there'll be plenty of yeast to carb, though it may take a bit longer.

I was thinking that if I were to bottle one or two using carb drops that I have left over from a one gallon kit, that would tell me if I had enough yeast. I thinks it sounds reasonable, but wanted to get some feedback. What do you guys think?

If you bottle one or two, you will be letting oxygen in to the rest of the batch.

There is enough yeast to carbonate. If you're worried, add more yeast - it won't hurt anything, but isn't needed.
