My first lager has been in the works for quite a while now...

Recipe:
2 gl batch and boil
50g carapils,
50g crystal,
1Kg - Light DME
28g Saaz Hops - 40min

2 weeks primary ferment @ 12*C
4.5 weeks secondary ferment @ 6*C

Currently it is fast approaching 2 weeks in bottles. I checked one last night while it is expectedly under-carbed still it has a bit of a weird taste and mouth feel (like flour!) and tastes nothing like what I expected Saaz hops to taste of.

I'm just checking with you guys that it is normal for a lager to taste "green" and/or "wrong" when it's young in bottles, even though it has been lagered for 4.5 weeks before bottling.

Never had a batch taste like flour. What was your OF and FG? Did you do a d rest before lagering? How much yeast did you use?

OG was 1.048 I think. FG, never looked, but it's definately not sweet. I did a d rest, but it might have been a bit too soon as it fermented like crazy for 24 hours at room temp.

I used a full 12g packet of dried lager yeast.
