I drink primarily out of my kegs but do bottle every once in a while. On a splurge, I bought a blichmann beer gun. From using this, i could convey some advice. Carb as you would like to drink (based on beer style). Get your bottles clean and chill them. Lower pressure to 1-2 psi, purge co2 from keg, and use a longish line (my beer gun line is about 8 foot). Depending on bottle size (growler vs 12 or 22), you may have problems getting the line in the bottle. Start with the line all the way at the bottom of the bottle. Overfill as you're pulling the line out, so you don't have too much headspace.
