Is this a Rims controller?

I came across this on ebay. Is this basically a control box like what one would use in a rims/herms system?

Essentially, yes. It's a PID controller with an SSR and heat sink, already wired. I'm not sure about the temp probe, or maybe it's just the ceramic tube. I'd use an RTD probe instead but the K type may work, depending if the ceramic tube is removable.

Yeah, that will work. A thermocouple will work just fine.

You could also consider this if you want a pre-built PID. I have this and it works fine.
