Brewed this up yesterday...so too late to make any changes, but hopefully it turns out good. Any feedback on the recipe?

Seems more complicated than it really needs to be. You could settle on either pale or pilsner malt. Each is a good choice, and each would make a fine beer. Both seems needlessly complicated. You could also settle on either wheat or CaraPils, since, from the amount, it would seem that the wheat is only in there for head retention, which CaraPils is going to give you as well.

Did you just open all of your citrus hops and put them all together in a single bowl and shake them up and add them 1/2 oz. at a time? 'Cause that's what I would have done - simple, but effective.

Post how it turns out.

Yeah, you're probably right. Simpler is usually better. I read in Gordon Strong's book that he often mixes base malts to add interest, so I thought I would give it a try.

I'll update how this one turns out...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you are not adding any hops till the 30 min mark? If so could you explain? I thought you wanted hops to boil for the 60 min to extract more bitterness.

I wouldn't say you are wrong.

The OP indicated a first wort hop addition, where the bittering addition will be added to the boil kettle when the wort is added to the kettle before the boil. I have never tried this, but some people say it is a smoother bittering addition than a 60 minute. Some will do both a FWH and a 60 minute addition. The FWH is supposed to allow the hop oils and resins to be retained to a larger extent than boiling the aromas away. From what I read in Palmer's book, only low alpha hops should be used for FWH and the FWH addition should account for about 30% of the total finishing hops. FWH equates to about a 20 minute boil.

That being said, I usually do a very small 60 minute bittering addition and get most of my IBU contribution from the flavor and aroma additions for my IPAs and IIPAs. I have seen other members of HBT with recipes that do not have a hop addition until 30 or 20 minutes.

You could also settle on either wheat or CaraPils, since, from the amount, it would seem that the wheat is only in there for head retention, which CaraPils is going to give you as well.

Well, if you did a FWH with 1.5oz Magnums followed by a 90 min boil...your IBUs will be a lot higher. It will have great hop flavor though with all the late additions that will make it seem less bitter.

^ this

Notice the op had the FWH set to a (20) minute addition. But in reality boiled for 60
