IO Start sanitizer to purify water

In the event of an emergency I was wondering if IO Star would work as a way to sterilize drinking water? It does have iodine in it, so I figure 8 drops per liter would do the trick - but I can't find any resource that can confirm IO Star would work. Any chemists here knowledgeable in this regard?

IDK but I think campden tablets are used for that by hiking and camping people.
