Installing manifold in cooler

Going to make a manifold on the top of my mash tun through the lid so I can fly sparge (from the HLT cooler above)

I'm debating between coming into the lid of the mash tun cooler from the side or the top. The side would be easier since the HLT cooler will be sitting on top, but I could shift it a bit to allow for a vertical connection down through the top of the lid

thoughts?

Hi

Lid is a lot less stable. Side makes it harder to haul over to the sink to clean.

I actually already built it following ChemE's design. I made it snug though
