i was reading through "extreme brewing" and stumbled across an "india cream ale" recipe that i thought would be fun to try. i added a tiny bit of c40 but other than that, its pretty close to the book.

i know it falls into IPA guidelines, but i think ICA is cool :p especially trying it with a little crystal and cali lager yeast... i'm thinking pre prohibition IPA maybe :drunk:

fermented with ambient temps at 59-60, very little if any fruitiness in aroma or flavor from fermentation. what is most surprising about this beer is the hops. i've never used soley crystal, especially at these levels, before. i'm getting the slightly spicy/hearthy/ flavors, but also a pretty strong lemon-like citrus flavor. the light grain bill really lets the hops shine @ 50 IBU. its very quaffable with lots of flavor, and @ 6.4 might be dangerous :drunk: i'm going to keep it around 50 degrees for a week and then keg it.

here is a shot after been on the gas for a couple weeks... absolutely delish- will be brewing again in the near future. the crystal gives a spicy lemon like thirst quenching deliciousness that makes this great to drink. the only thing i would do differently is maybe tone down the alcohol a bit, and dry hop.

Bump...I was looking at this same recipe in Extreme Brewing earlier today and wanted to see if anyone brewed this. Would you do anything else differently? I was thinking about using flaked maize and using Notty, WLP029 or S-05 to make this an ale.

Um... I have a version of what I think that avatar is that can't possibly be right, but I can't get it out of my head.
