Is there any reason I can't use my immersion heater, which I use to heat my hot liquor, in my wort to help it get up to boiling faster? Will it scorch the wort or something?

It can in theory scorch wort but a lot of folks here use hot rods and water heater elements (I do the latter) in their wort. The entire electric brewery concept revolves around it.

Thanks. I figured that's how the electric kettles must operate.
