I'm a fairly new brewer. I have brewed 15 or so 5-gallon batches over the years with pretty good success.
I have never used fresh hops, instead I have always purchased pellets.
Someone gave me a plant in the spring and I have grown my own hops over the summer.
So now I have a pretty decent first year crop of Willamett hops.
I am very excited to try a batch using the hops I grew myself.
The research I have done seems to tell me that Willamett hops can be quite bitter, maybe even harsh. ( is that accurate?)
I prefer lighter beers that are not too bitter.
I'm looking for recipies/suggestions on how to utilize the Wilamett hops in a lighter recipie.
Thanks in advance.
