My last brew missed the mark by about 20 points. was shooting for 1.060 and, due to a broken thermometer, missed by quite a bit. at this point i have nearly $40 in the batch so if i can turn it around with some DME i'd prefer that.

the issue is bitterness. i used an oz of nugget at 60 for a 1.060 brew that worked out to 1.040. i need a way to figure out how much boiled DME to add to correct this.

It depends on the type of DME you have, but most add about 40 ppg. That means a pound of DME added to one gallon of water would give you a gravity of 1.040. So if you need to increase 5 gallons by 20 points, you're looking for 100 points total so need 2.5 lbs of DME.
