Making a coffee beer. How long should I dry bean for?
Cool, thanks. I'd looked on here a bit, but there didnt seem to be a solidly suggested time frame. I was just wondering if that had changed. The article says 48 hours, that works for me.Have a read of this : http://scottjanish.com/guide-to-coffee-beers/
Also search the HBT archives, it often gets discussed.
Maybe, that makes sense, but I was a little worries about it giving more of the acrid bitterness that you get from coffee, and I was looking for more of the thing you get when you open a bag of whole bean coffee I also think there would be more color extraction that way, which I was trying to shy away from.Wouldn't you get 10 times the flavor/aroma extraction if the pieces were 10 times smaller, such as in a coarse crush? A much larger surface allows for more contact with the beer.
